Two Bedworth Park robberies at gunpoint
VANDERBIJLPARK. - Two black robbers forced entry into a house after following the resident's gardener from a nearby dump site. The suspects, one of them armed, forced the resident to give him access to a safe contasining jewellery. The Fortuna Street home in Bedworth Park was robbed on May 21.
The gardener was apparently forced at gunpoint to take the robbers into the house where the domestic servant was busy. She and the gardener were tied up, says Police spokesperson Captain Shado Mashobane. The suspects removed the wall-mounted safe and fled with jewellery worth some R220 000. No-one was injured and there have been no arrests so far.
In another robbery, residents were sleeping when two black armed men - one wielding a knife - forced entry into a Bendis Street home in Bedworth Park on May 24 at about 02:15. Captain Mashobane said entry was forced through a window and a family member was awoken and ordered to show the robbers where the other occupants were sleeping.
The shocked girl took the blaqck robbers to her mother's room. "There are men in the house - please do not scream," she warned her mother. The robbers took a plasma TV set, a home theatre, a set of pots and five cell phones.
They then went to the garage where they loaded everything they had seized onto a white Corsa bakkie with the registration VKC 412 GP, which they also stole, using it to drive off with their loot. No-one was injured and police confirm they have not yet made any arrests.
